The fabulous city of Las Vegas is not considered Sin City for no reason, and when it comes to adult entertainment, it does not get much better than the 702. If you are looking for a sexy strip show which is reminiscent of old-school Vegas, look no further than the X Burlesque shows going down every night at 10 PM at Bugsy’s Cabaret in The Flamingo Casino and Resort.

You can expect a variety of titillating fantasies played out by the world-class beauties of X Burlesque every night, set to music from rock to R&B to country and beyond. From Southern country farm girl routines set to the music of artists such as Travis Tritt, to ’70s Mod stylings and everything in between, there is something to suit every taste at X Burlesque.

The 75 minute shows are set in a cabaret environment, allowing an intimate experience of all the scintillating action. There is even an interactive aspect of the show as you may be called on stage to be teased by the bevy of burlesque beauties on hand each night. When it comes to artful fetish and fantasy in addition to some good old fashioned T&A, it does not get any better than X Burlesque.

Tickets range from $61.55 to $94.90, and it is well worth the money, as you are unlikely to see performers of this caliber acting out every male fantasy under the sun anywhere else in Vegas. Eschew the strip club and hit up X Burlesque at the Flamingo if you want an adult experience which is both cerebral and carnal and a taste of classic Vegas charm.

Lovers of great whiskey in the 702 have reason to rejoice, as Andre’s Restaurant and Lounge in the Monte Carlo is bringing back its popular Whisk(e)y Wednesdays series for 2014 with a bang. The new and improved Whisk(e)y Wednesdays will now feature a tasting session from 7:30 to 9:30 PM and a second tasting from 10:00 PM to midnight, and the event will take place every two months.

Whisk(e)y Wednesdays will take place on the second floor of Andre’s in the Monte Carlo inside Andre’s’ renowned cigar lounge, and will feature both whiskey tasting and cigar pairings. The flagship event for 2014 will have an Irish theme in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, and experts from Jameson will be hosting the event, helping guests to better understand the top-notch Irish whiskeys on hand.

Among the delicious whiskeys to be tasted include Redbreast out of Cork, Ireland, Powers, which is the most popular Irish whiskey in Ireland, Paddy’s, another fine offering from Cork, and of course Jameson will be offering up a special ‘new expression’ whiskey of their own for the Sin City whiskey-lovers on hand.

It is $35 to attend, and we suggest you make reservations in advance as these events tend to fill up quickly. Whether you are a seasoned whiskey connoisseur or just getting into fine whiskey, this is an event you will certainly not want to miss if you are going to be in Las Vegas this Wednesday.

Everyone who loves a good time knows that Las Vegas knows how to party with the best of them, and when it comes to Chinese New Year, Sin City does it up big. The third annual Chinese New Year in the Desert celebration going down at the Fremont Street experience from February 7-9, 2014, looks like it should be one for the ages and an event you will definitely not want to miss if you live in LV or are visiting the 702 next weekend.

You may wonder what to expect at the CNY in the Desert 2014 event. For starters, there will be a concert extravaganza each night of the festival. On Friday, Kevin Khoa and Henry Chuc will headline, while Saturday’s show will include Victoria Wei Zhong. Rounding out the concert series will be a headlining performance by Gloria Papin on Sunday. Other events will include an attempt to break the world record for the most people to Zumba at one time, a spectacular spring parade put on by McDonald’s, various Chinese cultural performances on 3rd street, a lunar lantern festival, a vendor village, and more.

The Fremont Street Experience is always big fun year-round, and the CNY in the Desert celebration should kick it up a couple notches further making next weekend a great time to check it out. The best part is that the event is completely free to attend, making for a great weekend outing on a budget. For more details on the festival please check out the official website for CNY Las Vegas 2014, and don’t forget where you heard about it first!

Santana Residency at House of Blues

Posted by GPGarry | Posted in Music Events, Nightlife | Posted on 19-01-2014

hoblThere are few musicians in the history of the genre with as strong of a rock pedigree as Carlos Santana. The man performed at Woodstock, for God’s sakes, is known as one of the foremost axe-slingers in the history of the electric guitar, and experienced unprecedented mainstream success in 2000 with his critically acclaimed and top-selling Supernatural release. Although Santana tried to follow the success of Supernatural with subsequent similarly-formatted releases and, frankly, fell well short of the mark, he is still regarded as a legend in rock and would be even if his career ended prior to his more recent trials and triumphs.

If you love Santana music both old and new, you will be pleased to know that the man and myth himself is currently engaged in a residency at the Las Vegas House of Blues, located in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. The shows are being billed “An Intimate Evening with Santana: Greatest Hits Live, Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow” and this means you should expect to hear his classics in addition to newer material.

It is a privilege and a treat to see Santana in such a small and comfortable venue, and you never know how long rockers of his era will be around and going strong, meaning now is the time to catch Carlos and his band in concert. For tickets and a frequently updated list of dates, please check out the official website for Santana’s HOB residency.

Partying on Xmas and Xmas Eve in Vegas

Posted by GPGarry | Posted in Nightlife | Posted on 23-12-2013

Vegas has a reputation as a 24/7 party town, and Christmas is no exception. They don’t call it Sin City for no reason and you can still get into plenty of debaucherous action on Christmas and Christmas Eve in the 702.

On Xmas night, Light will feature Andy Caldwell, a Bay Area DJ/Producer favorite, while Philadelphia’s Mighty Mi Will bring his unique brand of beats to Surrender.

Ghost Bar and Geisha House will have ladies-night events for the women looking to party on the cheap and the men looking for the women, while Revolver is having a “Naughty or Nice” party. For some adult-oriented action you could also hit up Crazy Horse III for their “12 Days of XXXMas” event which runs through the 25th.

You can also party on XMas Eve at the Beauty Bar which is having their “Nickel Beer Night”, or hit up Surrender where DJ Sharam will be DJing their “Persian Christmas” party. Hyde and Piranha will also be open on the night for Christmas for all your drinking, dancing, and mingling needs.

Whether you are feeling lonely and looking to shake those holiday blues, or want to get out of the house with friends and loved ones, the Vegas nightlife scene has got you covered this Christmas and Christmas Eve.

Toros Tapas Bar Opens in Summerlin

Posted by GPGarry | Posted in Drinks, Eats | Posted on 09-12-2013

Summerlinites and Las Vegans who have made the trek might be familiar with stalwart local restaurateur Adam Corrigan from his current Summerlin establishments, Sedona and John Cutter. His newest culinary hotspot in the southern suburb is Spanish tapas bar Toros which is located right next door to John Cutter.

The restaurant has quite a nice atmosphere with a rustic but still well-put-together appeal which fits the slightly out-of-the-way location heading toward the mountains. Although the region of origin for all tapas on the menu is indicated, the food is definitely of the Americanized variety, for better or worse. Most tapas are between $6 and $10, meaning a night of small plates at Toros won’t break the bank. Entrées are a little higher, but still reasonable for the quality and genre of food.

In terms of drinks, there is Spanish beer Estrella on draught, sangria, a good selection of Spanish wines, and a particularly good Bloody Mary. For those who enjoy paella, there is no shortage thereof at Toros with six different types being offered, ranging in price from $32 – $36. If you live in Summerlin or are headed that way for one reason or another, we would recommend checking out this new restaurant offering from Corrigan.
